"My Mother's Rehab Was a Joke"

About: Alberta Health Services Leduc Community Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother was sent to Leduc for rehab. What a joke. I felt that she was neglected and ignored by the physio dept. 30 mins 3 times a week and that is what is called rehab? I was able to transfer her by myself by getting her into position ensuring she had shoes on as well as her knee brace. The staff used a lift.

I had to constantly fix her knee brace that staff had messed up. I had to tell the staff do not put feet on her wheel chair. I had to tell them to tell mum to pull herself along with her heels. This experience was an absolute disgrace. She was assessed level A for placement and spends her days surrounded by non verbal people as a result. We have now purchased our own private physiotherapist to work with her and shocker, they say she is in fact a one person transfer. I don't believe that she belongs in that placement but AHS controls the assessments so we are stuck unless we pay 2-3 times more to get her to private assisted living.
